Collie Racecourse is located in the southwest region of Western Australia. It is 200km from WA’s capital city, Perth, and is a scenic two-hour drive.

The first race meeting to be documented was back in January 1901, featuring the Collie Cup, which is still run to this day. The race club was originally situated on the Collie River. In 1928 a small golf course was set up on the track, but in 1945, racing was revived with a meeting once again featuring the Collie Cup.

After experiencing prosperous times during the later forties and early fifties, the club become inactive in 1955/56 due to a lack of nominations. This was when the Collie Golf Club took over the course, where its 18 holes still stand today.

In the 1970s, racing started up again, when the shire leased an area of Crown Land and gave it to the Collie Sports Club, which became the Collie Race Club.

The new club held its first meeting at the new track in 1983. Despite the lack of amenities, the meeting drew a great crowd.

Today the Collie Race Club holds an annual race meeting in October, which still features the Collie Cup as well as Fashions on the Field and live entertainment. There are now more modern facilities including a tote, bar, canteen and grassed area.
