Junction racetrack is located over 1000km north of Perth and is situated 10km west of Gascoyne Junction on Jimba Jimba station. Racing on dirt, this track has a country feel to it, with people encouraged to camp out during its weekend of racing.

Run by Junction Race Club, this track holds the annual Junction races, one of the oldest bush race meetings in Western Australia, with the club being established in 1907. Originally known as “The Lyons and Minilya Amateur Racing Club”, the first race meeting was held on the Box Gully Flats just outside of Gascoyne Junction township. People from local stations walked for several days to bring their horses to compete.

In 1930, the races moved to the Dairy Creek station, after a 20-year break due to the great depression and drought. In 1947, the club moved again to its current location, while World War II marked the change of the club’s name to Junction Race Club.

The Junction races is a full weekend of events held in August each year with racing, two-up, live music and a Gymkhana. The races on Saturday are highlighted by the Junction Cup and Fashions On The Field.
