About Broome Turf Club

Broome Racecourse, which is run by the Broome Turf Club, is carved out of bushland at picturesque Gantheaume Point, just a stone’s throw from world-famous Cable Beach. Located over 2200km north of Perth, this idyllic location perched on the Broome peninsula is surrounded by the Indian Ocean and benefits from the constant cool breezes which are a welcome relief in the hot and humid climate of the Kimberley.

Unlike most tracks in Western Australia, Broome Racecourse’s track is a firm dirt track, made of pindan dirt. Combined with its stunning views, this track was named by punters.com.au in their “Top 10 Stunning Racetracks You Have to See Before You Die”.

A day at the Broome races is an experience unlike most others and one that many international tourists seek to repeat. A highlight of the tourism calendar in Broome, it is a place where members of the multi-cultural community mingle with visitors from far and wide.

The race season commences in May and culminates in August with the highly anticipated Broome Cup Carnival, incorporating Ladies Day and Broome Cup Day for a true ‘winter racing alternative’.
