About Northam Race Club

Northam Racecourse is located 100km east of Perth, being an hour and a half scenic drive down Great Eastern Highway. When driving to the racecourse, a stop at Bakers Hill bakery is a must, well known to locals as one of the best pie shops in the region.

Nestled in the Avon Valley, the racecourse itself is situated on the edge of the Mortlock River on the eastern border of the town. It is the home of Northam Race Club which was established in 1863.

The track is one of WA’s best winter tracks, hosting around 25 meetings a year from May to November. It predominately hosts mid-week racing on Wednesdays or Thursdays but five times a year the track comes to life with feature weekend racing. Northam is the only racecourse outside of the metropolitan area to host a Group race with the Northam Stakes, an 1100m sprint run annually in May.

Other highlights include the WA Day Cup, run on the WA Day public holiday in June and the Northam Cup, a Listed race run in October.

This track also has abundant on-course entertainment, including live entertainment and Fashions on the Field, as well as some of WA’s best galloping action on the track, making it a great day out for the family.
