About Narrogin Racing

Narrogin Racing is located just under 200km southeast of Perth. This track is one of the few in Western Australia to host both thoroughbred and harness racing.

Founded in the 1900’s, the current track location was chosen in 1909 as it was an ideal location due to its large red gums providing shade for the picnickers and spectators to watch the racing and gymkhana events. The course was laid out along the creek within the natural amphitheatre.

In the 1930’s the track began to race under lights thanks to the Narrogin Electric Light Trotting Club.

In 2008, the thoroughbred and harness clubs amalgamated to form the Narrogin Race & Pace Inc, who now looks after Narrogin Racing.

The club races between September and July with 16 harness and six thoroughbred meetings scheduled. The highlights of the racing calendar include the Narrogin Pacing Cup in February and, for thoroughbreds, the Narrogin Cup in April. The club also races on Australia Day each year.
