About Nor West Jockey Club

Roebourne Racecourse is the second oldest race club in Western Australia. The powdery Pindan track sits amongst a beautiful Pilbara backdrop showcasing nature at its finest. It is situated over 1500km from Perth but just one kilometre east of the Roebourne town centre.

Run by the Nor West Jockey Club, horse racing in Roebourne has been an annual social event since 1867, attracting bookies, jockeys, trainers and spectators from all over Australia. The races were originally held on the left-hand side of the Cossack Road, before moving to the present course in 1890, with the site named the Nor-West Jockey Club.

The club is a not-for-profit organisation, and the track is attended to by a group of dedicated locals. It hosts facilities unlike any other in the region, including a dedicated two-storey members marquee featuring its own bar, TAB, members courtyard and members amenities. The general public area is designed to enhance patrons’ event experience with full TAB, bar, bookies and shaded, grassed areas trackside to create an atmosphere you won’t find elsewhere.
